【 Abstract 】 Professor Peng Shuzhi and his team's "Civilization Communication Theory" reveals the inherent laws of equal dialogue, mutual learning and coexistence among different civilizations. This theory is not only a positive response to the profound changes in the world order at the end of the 20th century, but also a powerful correction to the narrative of civilization with Western centrism. On the basis of inheriting and developing the Marxist concept of "communication", Professor Peng Shuzhi further proposed the core concept of "historical communication" and established the theoretical connotation of "civilized communication" and the basic content of "civilized consciousness" through the systematic extension of the horizontal dimension of this concept. On the basis of systematically sorting out the background, development stages, and theoretical connotations of the "theory of civilized communication", this article focuses on exploring its enlightening significance for the construction of regional studies in China. That is, regional studies should construct a comprehensive research framework at the basic cognitive level, strengthen systematicity and theoretical depth at the theoretical level, and adhere to the guidance of practical problems at the practical level, thereby promoting the continuous expansion and innovation of the disciplinary system.
