The college held a symposium on "Ecological Institutionalism Political Science" and the construction of regional and national studies
On the afternoon of November 27th, Zhao Kejin, Vice Dean of the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University and a long-term professor, was invited to attend a symposium on "Ecological Institutionalism Political Science" and Regional Country Construction "at the Northwest University Regional Country School in the Shuren Qizhi Lecture Hall. Qu Yao, market representative of Peking University Press, and Li Yifan, floor manager of Qujiang Bookstore Branch of Xi'an Xinhua Bookstore Co., Ltd., attended the conference together. The symposium was chaired by Professor Yan Wei, Vice Dean of the School of Regional Studies at Northwest University and Deputy Director of the Institute of Middle East Studies. Representatives from the school and students participated in the symposium.

Professor Zhao Kejin pointed out in his speech that regional studies, as an emerging interdisciplinary field, has always been based on a problem oriented academic philosophy. To promote the deepening development of this discipline from "problem oriented" to "discipline oriented", it is necessary to consolidate basic theoretical research and actively explore original theories. Ecological institutionalism is an important attempt in this direction.

Professor Zhao Kejin pointed out that ecological institutionalism revolves around the three core concepts of "order, system, and ecological system", and constructs a theoretical logic that covers the laws of order, system, and change, providing a new analytical path for solving major issues such as the rise and fall of civilization, differences in national development principles, and institutional resilience. He emphasized that this theory not only focuses on the "small history" under specific institutional contexts, but also strives to explain the "big history" of human institutional evolution, and has integrated explanatory power at the three levels of country studies, regional studies, and global studies.

During the discussion and exchange session, the attending teachers and students engaged in lively discussions on the explanatory boundaries, methodological characteristics, and dialogue space of ecological institutionalism with related disciplines such as political science and international relations. Finally, Associate Professor Xi Huidong, Vice Dean of the School of Regional Studies at Northwest University and Vice Dean of the Silk Road Research Institute, summarized the symposium.
