【 Lecture Summary 】 Researcher Zhou Rong | The Impact of the Development of Pakistan US Relations on Pakistan China Relations and the Security Environment Surrounding Pakistan
On the morning of September 25, 2025, Researcher Zhou Rong from the Chongyang Institute of Finance at Renmin University of China was invited to give an academic lecture titled "The Impact of the Development of Pakistan US Relations on Pakistan China Relations and the Security Environment Surrounding Pakistan" at the Regional Studies School of Northwest University. This lecture was presided over by Professor Yan Wei, Vice Dean of the Regional National College, and attended by multiple teachers and students from the Regional National College.
Firstly, Researcher Zhou Rong reviewed the historical context of the relationship between Pakistan and the United States, and pointed out that the current so-called "relationship improvement" is not a fundamental strategic shift, but a tactical adjustment. He emphasized that the "Bashar al Assad Defense Agreement" has enhanced Pakistan's national image and regional role, but the "nuclear umbrella" involved in it has more symbolic significance. Subsequently, Researcher Zhou Rong analyzed Pakistan's relations with neighboring countries, pointing out that its foreign policy is influenced by multiple factors, including structural dependence on weapons, large-scale projects, and international support. He emphasized that despite facing new challenges, Pakistan's foreign policy will maintain a certain degree of continuity and stability.

During the interactive session, Researcher Zhou Rong provided detailed answers to the questions raised by the teachers and students present. Professor Yan Wei summarized the lecture content and expressed gratitude to Researcher Zhou Rong for his wonderful lecture.
